How lucky it is to find a stream,
to lay on its bank, to look up and dream
of days when the sun didn’t seem so bright,
and we could bear fruit if only it might
rain at the right time, soak in real good,
turn blossoms to fruit and fine-tasting food.
Next to this river we have what we need.
Drought will be tough, but there’s no need for greed.
When the sun is bright and the air is hot
being planted here won’t be for naught.
These roots will stay watered, they won’t dry out.
However much it rains is the right amount.
Our trunks will stay strong, our leaves will stay green.
That’s what it’s like when you live by a stream.
